Data Base Administration by using Graphical User Interface base supporting application, is really easier and more efficient, compared with using console application from the Database its self just like SQL*Plus for Managing Oracle. Let say TOAD for Oracle, MySql Front, or SQLServer Tools that mostly must be run under Windows Operating System.

What about when we are working with Corporate Applications that use more then one Data Base Server and when we are not only working with Windows but also working with Linux or Mac OS X System? The problem would be…  we must install more that one client tools to manage them all, according to the number of Data Base Server Provider that we use. We must install Toad for Oracle Data Base, which is a commercial one, MySql Front or PhpMyAdmin for MySql, and we cannot use an alternative Operating System in managing our SQLServer except Windows, event if there is a such tool that can be run under Linux or Mac OS X, the quality and support will not as good as the tools, running under Windows machine.

Initially, when I worked with Mac OS X in my notebook, I couldn’t find a good tool, event just a tool to manage my Oracle, as good as Toad. May be there are a lot of good, free and open source tools to manage MySql out there, that can be run in Mac OS Operating System, but not much for Oracle and SQLServer.
